WELCOMEIf you want to know what happening in Wadestown, what people are thinking about and talking about in the village, then you should be able to find it here. This website belongs to the Wadestown Residents Association but we have opened it up to all groups within the greater Wadestown area. The navigation bar on the left of this screen will take you to various groups. Some have their own page on this site, others have their own page and the link will take you to their site. More rubbish than ever!
This year's Wadestown's rubbish collection produced a record nine truck-loads and despite an 8am start some of our volunteers didn't get home till 12.45. Thank you to the collectors who worked so hard. Thank you to the Council drivers who were cheerful and helpful and even cleard the odd drain from debris from the previous night's storm. Thank you to Deidre who provided scones and much needed refreshments for everyone. Thank you to the thoughful person who labelled some of his items as "Full full working order" and "Careful, crystal decanters in perfect condition". The concept of allowing people to recover and recycle items from the various piles did work to some degree but it was disappointing to see previously neat piles outside a home had been sorted through and left strewn all over the pavement. Equally disappointing was the almost total absence of residents popping out to help load their rubbish. One man, who dumped all his demolition material on the grass road reserve, stood without helping and watched to make sure we took it all. However, once again the biggest disappointment was to see many useful items put out as rubbish that could be used by others. Bicycles and houshold good in full working order, beds good quality clothes all now buried in the tip. Please take a look at the RECYLCING page on this web site for organisation who can make good use of your castoffs. |
